SHEEPOn our farm we have a baby lamb which came to us at Easter 2010. He is brown with white markings. His name is Odis. He was born in February 2010.
Odis loves to be picked up and carried to his paddock. He loves to give hugs and will rest his head on your shoulder when carried.
FactsA baby is called a lamb, a female adult is called a ewe and the male adult is called a ram. The name sheep is a general name for an adult.
Sheep were first domesticated in Asia during the Bronze Age. (Thousands of years ago. We primarily use sheep for their thick coat called wool. You can make many items with wool. E.g. blankets, sweaters & socks. These wool items will not burn and are fire resistant.
Clothes made from wool will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Sheep like to eat hay, pasture grass, corn and grain.
When you come to visit Odis, you will hear him saying Bah...Bah. It sounds like a crying baby. Make sure you stop by to say hello and feel his wool.
